Mrs. Pike's Class Calendar

English Literature

We will be exploring the rich history of literature as we journey from Beowulf to 1984 (the book, not the year!). Along the way we will also familiarize ourselves with the various schools of criticism as we stretch our thinking (no, seriously) and writing abilities!

Honors United States Literature
This course will allow the students to explore the writings of American authors from the earliest beginnings to contemporary times.  We will be sampling a wide variety of writing, including fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.
Justice in Literature
We will study the various approaches authors have to the concept of justice as they present their ideas through writing.  A strong definition of justice is necessary (hint:  check your catechism) and a willingness to consider the ideas of others.  This course is strongly tied to the concepts and beliefs presented in your theology class this year.
