Jill's Pregnant!! Take Two =D
On December 3, 2008 I found myself staring at yet another positive pregnancy test! Only a little over a YEAR since I found out I was expecting Stosh Monster. Crazy!!! Dave and I are SUPER-EXCITED for our new bundle of joy and where this adventure takes us. We're ready! And, as Dave puts it - we're not getting any younger and NEITHER of us want children living with us when were *old* LOL.

Week 35 - Swollen Feet =/
Baby S's Birth Story
So, by week 39 I was so DONE being pregnant. I was hot, sweaty, tired, bored and sick off being the size of Shamu. Sleeping was uncomfortable as was sitting, as was walking, as was bending over...hmmmm, everyone sucked. At least at that point in time!! LOL. I went in for my typical weekly appt. and prayed I'd be dilated and effaced. Eh, no such luck. I was but not by much and even that didn't make much of a difference.
Baby S was not budging.
I was told to come back in a week =/ Yay - let me share my joy. I seriously went home and cried. I wanted this baby OUT, N-O-W.
Week 40 rolled around and I went in for my weekly appt. and the str
ess test to make sure Baby S was doing o.k. I got hooked up to the machine and sat there while the nurse took some notes. Every time I felt Baby S move I was supposed to press the red button so the machine could note it. So, I did.
The nurse left the room and came back after 30 minutes. Looked at the results and said "You can't feel those?" "Feel what?" I asked...
"These are your contractions..." and she pointed to the rifts in the paper - large scribbly bumps. "No, I can't feel anything right now." I said.
Uggghhhh. I was contracting but NOTHING was happening!!!!! How annoying!!!!
I then went and saw Deb, one of my MW's who checked me. I was 4 cm dilated and 80% effaced but if I didn't go into labor on my own they scheduled and induction far a few days later.
Needless to say, I walked in at 7AM on Thursday June 19th ready for my induction.
Julie, my favorite MW was there to greet us. I got changed and she checked me. I was still 4 cm dilated (feeling nothing) and 80% effaced so she simply broke my water to get things moving. I started walking the halls with Dave, his mom, and my mom. The contractions started to pick up but nothing major to start - more like heavy cramping.
Fast forward a few hours. It hurt to walk, but sitting was becoming increasingly uncomfortable. I used the birthing ball somewhat but even that was becoming annoying as the contractions kicked up a few notches. I was ready for the tub.
Ever been naked in front of your MIL, husband, mother, MW? Nice, huh?? I was in too much pain to care who saw me naked. I sat in the tub ALL afternoon, from about 1PM until 4PM. I held MIL's hand while Dave put cold wet wash clothes on my forehead.
Julie checked me around 4pm and I was 8cm dilated and 90% effaced. It was at this point I couldn't take the pain anymore. They called in the anisteologist who gave me a spinal to take the edge off the pain. H-E-A-V-E-N I tell you. Heaven!!! Well, until I started to get nausea. Them not so much. Then, my contractions stopped. Completely =/
They started Pitocin. The spinal wore off and I got the contractions back - man. I LOVE pain I tell ya.
By 8PM I was 10 cm dilated and 100% effaced ready to push BUT Baby S wasn't low enough. We waited until about 11PM and Julie had me start pushing. Mind you, I'm contracting and in PAIN this entire time. Ick.
I started pushing and pushed for 3 hours. I did every move imaginable. I squated, I kneeled, I laid on my back, I did the water-skiing manuvuer. All half-naked by the way. For those who think you're going to be modest while in labor. Good luck, is all I have to say. When you're in that kind of pain - you don't give 2 shits who sees you naked. You just want that baby OUT.
Around 3AM Julie FINALLY called the doctor on call. Dr. Cockfield arrived and checked me. The baby was still to high for them to do any other natural intervention - vacuum/suction. C/S was the only option left and considering I'd been in labor for almost 24 hours, I just wanted to be done and make sure Baby S was o.k.
So, into the OR I went. The same aniesteologist showed up again to give me another spinal. This time though it didn't take.
Me: "I can still feel what you are doing and my contractions" (while they were wiping me down)
Nurse: "What am I doing now?"
Me: "Tickling my toes"
Anisteologist: "We're going to have to knock her out."
Me: "What??"
Anisteologist: "Your husband is going to have to leave the room"
Me: "Oh God"
I don't remember much after that. Dave saw Baby S first and I woke up about 30 minutes after they knocked me out. I was still EXTREMELY out of it but I came too, to see my wonderful husband and my beautiful baby boy; Stosh
Lovely - HUH? Yeah, I know you're not going to look great after labor - but GEEZ....LOL.
