Newsletters Grade 4/5 John N. Given P.S.

March  2012
This month we are working on continuing to work on multiplication in math but have also started working on the Geometry unit.  In Geometry we are looking at naming shapes and angles, measuring angles, and drawing shapes that are congruent.

In Writing we are working on Narratives.  Students should be able to write a story that has a beginning, middle and end, characters, a setting, a problem and a solution.  The minimum length should be five paragraphs.  Students are encouraged to include vivid language anddialogue in their writing.  Students are expected to have a good copy of their first narrative completed on March 9th.  After March Break we will start on our second narrative piece.  In Reading we are still working on finding the main idea and writing effective summaries.

For the Social Studies and Science Quizzes please bring home both your notebooks and your duotangs so that you can study all your notes.
