Homework:  We have been working on autobiographical narratives in class this week.  Students now have been given the task of finishing their rough drafts at home.  These are due at the beginning of class on Tuesday.  They will need to be one and half to three pages in length.  Students will also need to turn in their 5W chart at this time.  Students have received a rubric for this project that shows the break down of how the stories will be graded.  The final draft due date has not yet been assigned as students will be going through the revising and editing process next week.

October 15, 2010
We went to the media center for book checkout  today.  The A.R. deadline is October 25th; students are to have 16 A.R. points.
Homework:  Students have been working on an autobiographical narrative paper in class.  They are to write the final draft at home.  This paper is due Tuesday at the beginning of class.  When students turn in their essays, their papers should be in the following order:  rubric, final draft, revision sheet (filled out by two peers), 5W chart, rough draft with visible editing, and plan.  Students will receive credit for each step of the writing process, so it is important that they have everything Tuesday.

Homework:  The BK English guide #1 is due tomorrow at the start of class.

The vocabulary story is due Monday at the start of class.  Students are to use their ten vocabulary words from their packets/flashcards.
  • They are to pay attention to the part of speech of each word and make sure they use their words correctly.
  • These stories may be between a half a page and a full page in length.
  • I ask that students underline or highlight the vocabulary words.
 November 1, 2010
  • Today the vocabulary story is due.
  • I assigned the BK English Reading Guide #2 today.  This homework assignment is due Wednesday at the start of class.
Students are to earn 20 A.R. points by January 21st.  Remember A.R. is worth 10% of students' language arts grade each quarter.

Students now have the two second quarter extra credit assignments in their Odyssey folders.  These may be accessed from home at odyssey.polk-fl.net.  One of the extra credit opportunities is an indepth practice of reading skills.  The other is a story that students read; this activity addresses both writing and reading skills.  These assignments take awhile, but they are worth students' time.  Those who completed the extra credit opportunities last quarter really boosted their language arts grades.  These assignments are due January 21st.  Students must complete an entire folder in order to receive the extra credit.
