Homework

The students will be responsible for copying down the homework each night in their agenda. It will be posted on the white board in the classroom and we will review the assignments each day before they leave to go home. Please check over their work nightly for errors and initial at the bottom of the agenda. Please let me know if your child is having trouble on a particular concept so that I can reinforce it with them in class.

Your child will have homework assigned Monday through Thursday nights.  Assignments are sent home as an extension of the days activities to provide additional practice on specific skills.  Sycamore Creek uses WCPSS homework policy which is found entirely online at www.wcpss.net.  Students will be assigned to read 20 minutes at home and record their summary in four sentences in their Read-at-Home ( RAH) journal.  Each quarter I will raise their reading time by 5 minutes.  This is important as we work to improve reading endurance and prepare for EOG testing in May.  Students will also have a spelling and math assignment. Homework is due at the beginning of class.  If it is late, messy, or incomplete it will not be accepted.

I will also occasionally send home enrichment activities and projects.  These assignments will take longer than normal homework and may require more parental assistance.  Specific directions, examples, and time line information will be sent out when projects are assigned.
