Welcome to the 2011/2012 School Year!
It is wonderful to see everyone at school! I know it is going to be a terrific year! 8th Grade Class Trip The 8th grade are getting ready for their class trip to be held on May 16th and 17th. The students have earned enough money for an overnight trip to Spokane where they will tour Gonzaga University and Shriners Children's Hospital. On the second day of their trip, the students will go to Silverwood. Permission slips will be sent home to parents soon. Elks Club Essay Winners Trout Creek students once again captured three of the awards for the Elk's Club Americanism Essay Contest. In Division 1 for grades five and six, a sixth grade student was thrilled to earn second place. Division II (grades seven and eight) was represented by a 1st and 3rd place finish. The students competed in the oratory competition, and did well there. One student's essay was sent to the state competition, and it is believed that student came in second place in the state. Congratulations to some gifted writers and orators! | 7/8 Field Trip The 7th and 8th Grade class went to Missoula and Helena on April 23rd and 24th. All of the students toured the U of M campus in Missoula, Carroll College in Helena, the Montana State Capitol Building, and Explorations Works, an interactive science museum. Many of the students had read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and they were excited to see the recently released movie. All of the students enjoyed their experience. Each of them wrote essays about their trip after they returned. The following are quotes from some of those essays. "The field trip was very fun and inspiring, and we had a great time. We learned a lot of information..." "This was no doubt the best field trip that I had ever been on in my whole life." "This was a great trip, and I had a lot of fun." "I learned that you should probably think about what college you want to go to and what you want to do when you grow up. I loved it." |
