Home is where the heart is...
In February 2008 Chris and I bought our first house in Hopkinton Ma. We LOVE it!!! It needed some cosmetic work, but with the help of our friend Jay, we got most of the work done quickly. Check out the photos....we still have a lot of work left to do!

....and here's Chris's pride and joy...his downstairs "Mantown".... That's it! Pretty soon I'll update with more photos!

This is our house! When we bought the home, it was painted bright yellow with green shutters. Not our style at all. We are still deciding if we should add shutters, or leave it as is.
Entry We replaced the stair runner (the original was purple), painted the foyer (Ben Moore: CedarKey). I still need to hang the mirror on the wall. Furniture is from Pottery Barn.
My Office I work from home most days, and this is my office. I love the built in bookcases and all the natural light the room gets. Plus, there are french doors that separate the office from the rest of the house, so it's very private.
Half Bath (1st Fl) We completely renovated this bathroom. There was a full mirror on the wall and a pedastal sink. We removed the mirror and sink, painted and replaced everything. I love the way it came out!
Looking into Sitting Room Here's the view into the sitting room from the foyer. I wanted the sitting room to have a contrasting color, and decided on Ben Moore's Amazon Soil. It's a very deep purple, but isn't "too purple.
Sitting Room I still need curtains and throw pillows for the couch, but this room is 99.9% complete. The funiture is from Crate & Barrel, West Elm, Pottery Barn and CB2. Paint: Amazon Soil (Ben Moore)
Dining Room The dining room and sitting room are together, but separated by columns. The table expands to seat up to 12 people (from Ethan Allen) and the buffet and mirror are from Pottery Barn. I still need curtains and a rug for under the table, along with some decorative items. The lighting is from Restoration Hardware. (This room was bright green when we bought the house!)
The Kitchen We did a LOT of work in the kitchen. Originally, the floors were dark green and the walls were bright yellow. Lighting and hardware was gold. We took out the floors and added large tan tiles and painted the kitchen a tan color. We replaced all the hardware with black knobs and new lighting from lamps plus. We replaced all the appliances with stainless steel.
Kitchen/Family Room Here's a photo of the breakfast area in the kitchen (table is from Bernie & Phyls and chairs from Crate & Barrel). You can also see into the family room from the kitchen.
This room is a work in progress. We completely renovated the fireplace (it was originally brick) and I ordered a black and white modern print to hang above the mantel. To the right of the room, we have a flat screen mounted on the wall and the room is equipped with Bose surround sound. This room is only about 60% complete and needs curtains and many decorative elements.
Upstairs (2nd Floor) This is the upstairs hallway. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs including the master. We replaced the sconces and painted. The guest bath is through the door straight ahead. it has a double sink and full bath. We didnt' change it, but we may update it in the future.
Master Suite The master bedroom still needs some work. This is our sitting area (I wanted it to feel like a hotel in the city, and I love modern contemporary design, so the bedroom was the best place to do this). The paint is Smokey Grey by Ben moore. As you can see, there's another room off the bedroom...it will eventually be my dressing room. I've always wanted an entire room for a closet, so it will be perfect! :)
Master Bedroom cont. Platform bed: West Elm ***The master bath is not complete yet, so I will post photos when it's done***
Guest Room #1 I still need to hang a photo over the bed and put in curtains. This was the only room in the house that we didn't paint! :)
Guest Room #2 Needs curtains and the pictures hung on the walls, but overall this room is 99% complete.
Guest Room #3 --Future kid's room someday. This room is intentionally left undecorated. We painted it yellow, incase we ever have a baby, we could use it as a nursery. We don't have plans for kids yet, but someday this will make a great nursery. We only want 1 baby, so we won't need to worry about a bigger house! :)
Basement The basement was a huge selling point for us. It was already finished very nicely, and we did not change a thing! It came with a media room, full bathroom, full bar with a 100 bottle wine refridgerator and more than enough storage space and built in bookshelves. It's probably our favorite part of the house!
Media area... The TV is built into the wall and came with the house. I need to put up some pictures (maybe some old vintage movie posters), but this is already a great space to watch tv and movies! It has full bose surround sound and can be played in other areas of the basement as well.
here's the Golden Tee game we got, and you can see the pool table over the the left and the bar in the back.
The best part, is that we got the pool table on Craigslist REALLY cheap! :)
Here's the bar.... Can you really expect Chris and I to move to the suburbs without adequate party space?? :) lol.
