Uganda Schools for Schools Program

Schools for Schools (S4S) is a program in association with www.invisiblechildren.com/ to raise books for children in Northern Uganda. www.invisiblechildren.com/ will collect the books and sell the books for money. Ninety percent of the money from the books will go to northern Uganda. In Northern Uganda the children as young as 8-12 years old are abducted from their house or school and are forced to join the Rebel army. After they join the Rebels they are brainwashed to become killing machines against their own people. The ones who are not kidnapped travel from place to place every night to find safety, or are relocated to Internal Displacement Camps (IDP).There are an estimated 1,000,000 children/families in displacement camps currently. In these camps violence, theft, and rape is common from corrupt government soldiers. Those who are not moved to IDP camps and make the nightly commute often sleep under varandas, in the street, abandoned buildings, and dark alley ways. These improvised sleeping quarters are often filthy, wet, and most of all overcrowded by 100's of other families or children. With the money raised from the books, the Ugandan Government will be able to build new schools for the children. If just 11 new schools are built for the children of Uganda, they could receive an education at a nationally competitive level. With an actual education, the Ugandan children will be able to better fend for themselves and survive.

The book drive at South Oldham High School will be held until December 18th. Donate books (except high school text books) to room 107 or certain boxes around the school.
