This is my fourth year teaching in the Resource Room at Gildo Rey Elementary. Before that, I worked as a Para-Educator at Alpac Elementary for five years. I received my teaching degree from Pacific Lutheran University.
I grew up in Southern California, spending most of my growing up years in San Diego. I went to Westmont College in Santa Barbara where I earned a degree in Economics and Business. I worked in the accounting department at a bank in San Diego until I moved to Seattle in 1985. After I had my first child I stayed at home to take care of him and when he went to school, I started volunteering and then working at his school. It was then that I decided that I wanted to become a teacher.
At home, I enjoy playing with my three dogs, Tar, Tasha and Brutus. I also like to spend time working in my garden. Sunflowers are my favorite flower! Sometimes I go fishing for salmon with Mr. Calkins.
I love my job and I am excited to start the new year. We will be doing lots of exciting things. I am working on my Master's Degree this year with Lesley University. I am excited to show my students all the new things I have learned this summer!
