Mrs. Boerem’s Classroom Expectations Both math and science require active classroom participation. But they also require orderly and respectful behavior. My students are expected to: · Come to class prepared (all necessary materials) · Be responsible citizens by showing respect for others as well as the environment · Participate in classroom discussions and activities · Turn assignments and homework in ON TIME My classroom motto is: Make the RIGHT choices. Respect others Implement peaceful ways to resolve disagreements Give attention to the person who is speaking Have a good attitude Think, then act My goal is to provide each student with a safe learning environment and the opportunity to make the most of his or her educational journey.
Math Classroom Policies Math work is ALWAYS done in pencil. Work submitted in ink will not be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS. Appropriate behavior is expected. Students need to be prepared for class: two sharpened pencils, eraser, correcting pen, text, and work due. When a student comes unprepared and needs to get his text etc., he will ‘donate’ 25¢ to the Rice Bowl Globe. BE PREPARED! Science Classroom Policies Students need to come prepared for class: Text, work due, pens, notebook, paper and BRAINS IN GEAR (please)—25¢ donation to globe if unprepared. Work MUST be done in ink. Appropriate behavior is expected. Grades are given for participation as well as assignments and homework. Middle School Homework Policy Homework is generally given to reinforce skills learned in class or promote critical thinking. RARELY will work be given that has not been covered in a lesson. Homework is due the next school day unless otherwise directed. Students will receive ½ credit for homework that is turned in late. If they are absent due to illness, the homework is due in the number of days that the student was absent. For example, if the student is SICK (not vacationing) for 5 days, he/she has 5 days from the date of return to turn in missing assignments. It is the STUDENT’S responsibility to get the missing assignments. (There is a homework folder in the classroom with the assignments and worksheets.) Homework is NOT to be done in class (otherwise it would be CLASSwork.)
