Hello Room 2 Parents,

Just a bit of information to keep you updated.  We have recently started a new book in Language Arts titled Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry.  This book deals with many heavy issues of race in America during the 1930's.  Please be aware that your children may come home with questions about race issues or feelings about what they have read in class.  I welcome you to join the class any time to listen in on our class discussions or to pick up a copy of the book yourself and read along with us.  We have just started chapter 3 and the students seem to really be enjoying the reading with each passing session.  Also, please let me know if you have any questions.

In Earth Science the students have an exam coming up on Tuesday, March 3 based on the units covering volcanoes and earthquakes.  Your child should have 22 flashcards with vocabulary words and should study all weekend to prepare them for their exam.  The vocabulary words are listed on my website if your child seems unaware of what is happening (although all should know exactly what is happening!!!).

Please remember to fill out your re-enrolment form for next year.

Students will be attending a field trip to Riley's Farm at the end of March. Please keep your eyes out for permission slips coming home.  We also have plans to go to the La Brea Tar Pits in April and Leo Carrillo in May or June

Grades will be turned in and mailed to you over Spring Break.  If you are curious about your child's grade, please check Power Grade.  You can get to it through my website.

The 6th grade year is 4 months away from being over!  Can you believe it?  Your children are well into their middle school experience and preparing for the challenges of high school.  Thank you for all of your support and I look forward to the rest of the year!
