Short Story Unit

Our first unit in class will be a short story unit using Junior Great Books collection of short stories.  Here is a list of the 5 stories we will be reading:
 
  • "Through the Tunnel" by Doris Lessing
  • "Raymonds Run" by Toni Cade Bambara
  • "My Greatest Ambition" by Morris Lurie
  • "Bad Characters" by Jean Stafford
  • "Chura and Marwe" African folktale as told by Humphrey Harman 
Each story will be read twice, once out loud as a class and once silently. The students will  also be guided through several reading and writing activities.
