  • Using the characterization worksheet, write a characterization analysis of your character using these principles: What your character says about him/herself, what others say about your character and what your character’s actions say about them.
  • Write a letter to your character expressing how you feel about something that happened in the book.
  • Write a letter from your character back to you in response to your letter.
  • Write a poem about your character
  • Find a song that represents your character or something that your character experienced.  You must print out the lyrics.
  • On a separate sheet of paper write why the song is significant.  How does the song represent your character?  What does the song mean?  What lines specifically did you connect to and why?
  • Draw or make a collage of a scene in the book which involves your character.
  • Make playing cards (using large index cards) for these 3 literary elements:

-          Symbolism – choose a symbol that represents your character and draw it on one side of your card.  On the other side of the card, explain how and why that symbol represents your character.

-          Metaphor – on one side of your card, draw a picture of the metaphor for your character.  On the other side of the card, write your metaphor for your character.

-          Simile – on one side of your card, draw a picture of a simile for your character.  On the other side, write your simile for your character.
