Classroom Economy In our classroom, we have an “Economy”. Each week, students earn play money for the following things: $5.00 for each week they show perfect behaviour $5.00 for each week they complete their homework $5.00 for each week their desks and binders are organized A set amount for the weekly job they’re assigned A bonus $5.00 for doing ALL OF THE ABOVE This is an all or nothing system. If you miss one day of perfect behaviour, you don’t get paid the $5.00, etc. During the weekend, I will fill out a receipt, which categorizes the earnings shown above, and students will be paid for what they’ve earned. Students will also receive bonus bucks. It is the teacher’s prerogative if he wants to reward a student with bonus bucks for speaking French, being kind, showing respect, helping when unsolicited, working hard and the list goes on. If students ask for bonus bucks they might have to pay a fine. Students are responsible for their own money. If they lose their money, they can’t ask the teacher to replace it. They must put it in a safe place, if it is lost, they will not get it back. Periodically we will hold an auction in the class. Students will be able to bid on items such as smoothies, recesses in the gym with six friends of their choice, ice cream and much more. Items available for our auction will vary from auction to auction. |
