Classroom Economy

In our classroom, we have an Economy.  Each week, students earn classroom dollars (play money) for the following things:

Homework completion - $100 for the completion of their homework/week (all or nothing system – each day that week must be completed to receive this payment)

A set amount for the weekly job they’re assigned

Students will also receive bonus payments.  It is the teacher’s prerogative if he wants to reward a student with a bonus payment for speaking French outside of French instructional time (breaks, etc.), being kind, showing respect, unsolicited help, working hard and the list goes on.  If students break classroom, or school rules, are heard speaking English during French Instructional time, force others to cleanup after them, don’t leave their desk clean, ask for a bonus payment, etc. (this list is non-exhaustive), they might have to pay a fine.

Our auditors will ensure that you are paid.

To protect our environment, your money will only be recorded electronically into your on line 8FI Classroom Bank account.  You can visit this site and log in by clicking on "Classroom Bank."  This link can be located in the left hand margin of this page.

Periodically we will hold an auction.  Students will be able to bid on items such as smoothies, recesses in the gym with friends of their choice, ice cream and much more (a list of items will be generated with the assistance of student input).  Items available for our auction will vary from auction to auction.  Students with more funds will be more capable of purchasing the item of their choice.  The price you end up paying for an item might seem ridiculous, for example: you might pay 20,000 classroom dollars for a Burger King Whopper coupon; this just adds to the fun.
