There are NO action items here, but you may enjoy some things in this email. I don’t want to take up too much of your valuable time.
Thanks for your VERY prompt and thoughtful response to my email. I will share with the 100 students I am teaching in MM. EXCELLENT ADVICE!
Sidebar: I recall one year, when you were up here in Thunder
Bay, you passed along this advice to the students in the audience (about
getting their first job)
. My interests have shifted to Film/Video/Writing in last 3 years, I enjoy that so very much – To me basic video/audio skills are now (or will be) essential to those working in and around the web.
Just some links I am pretty sure you (or your staff) could use:
If you ever need a Pro Voice Over For my commercial work and fun projects, I have used these TWO professional voice-over artists – they are FUN to work with and are at the top of their game.
Best Voice of 2008/09 (has done 6 projects for me – incl broadcast TV commericials on CNN affiliates)
Voice of NBC – Emmy’s – and more… (he did a FREE promo for our college – excellent and fun to work with, I bought his book, and you can see him on Apple.com podcast tutorials)
The BEST Book by FAR - I have read on the Future of New Media, Film, Broadcasting, Net.. Wired Editor in Chief Chris Anderson discusses his latest book, Free: The Future of a Radical Price. (The book is Free, but you can order it too – but FREE audio book is here, Flash Player and zip files) http://www.wired.com/techbiz/it/magazine/17-07/mf_freer
Well, that is a long enough email ;)
All the best Jesse!
Cheers. Rob

Hi Rob –
Thanks so much for the kind words. Will’s site isn’t much to talk about these days, as he really wants to keep things simple. I have better examples of our work that I can send to you.
I truly enjoyed my experience with the College, and hope that one day I can participate again as a Board member.
I haven’t connected with Alison for at least 6 years, but do hope shes doing well.
Here are the answers to your questions:
1. Yes, would love to take on another student if the fit is right. Please send me the terms, and expectations of the College 2. Advise: Try to think very far ahead, even a decade, and dream about what you want your life to be like. Then drive your career towards that as its really a medium of expression and a means to achieve bigger goals. You will measure success on 2 things, Joy and money – pursue both, as they will each allow you to do anything you want for your friends and family.
Let me know if there’s anything else you need.
Cheers, Jesse

Hi Jesse:
. It’s Rob McCormack here, I know you from our advisory board (Multimedia Productions Confederation College)
. I just wanted to say hello, and your website looks great. http://decostainc.com/
. In my first year class today, I was talking about the advise that Alican (graduate, married Norm - she worked for you on work term and beyond I think) Wrote me a while back… Her advise to 1st year students was: “you get out of the program what you put into the program”
. I also showed my students the willsmith.com site that I know your company was is invoved with.
If you have time (no problem if you don’t),
1- Would you be interested in taking a student on their placement, I teach 3rd years as well 2- Is there one piece of advise you would give to 1st year students, just starting their career path ?
You were a very valuable member of our advisory, and we appreciated the time you put in very much,
If Alican is still with you, please send her my best, she was an excellent student and a hardworker.
Cheers Rob
Thanks for your email.
Cheers. Mr. M. Rob
