Answer these questions

What sound level should I set in iMovie or GarageBand for my Reel.
-6dB for peak level
-12 to  -18dB for background music


How do I know.. there are NO marked scales in iMove, iPhoto, or garageband.

Here is how
  1. Launch audacity  (do we need to download?)
  2. Create a -6dB tone in Audacity - follow Mr. M. lead
  3. Export it
  4. Bring into iMovie
  5. Take a screen shot of the bad meter
  6. Repeat for -12dB
  7. What is difference between -12 and -6  (recall this is a  logarithmic scale!!)

Now...
Bring in the iCompostions (or whatever (c) cleared sound track you picked for your reel..
into Audacity

Set the levels correctly... (it is likely WAY WAY too high)

Export, then bring into

TIP OF DAY...
What happens if you lay a voice over on one track in iMovie, then lay down a sound track?
Is it "additive"

What happens if you use a filter in any sound editor to BUMP up the base?
   What happens to the volume of your track...
Why did Mr. M. think this was not TRUE  (car radio)

So... there are LOTS of things that can effect the audio of your reel... hopefully you know the most basic things in MM 126

Did you try a mulitple clipboard out at home?
  If not, why not?  -Mr. M. thinks 100% of you did...

    If you are going to get anything out of the program (like a JOB)...
      you need to benefit from what Mr. M. has to offer you
        you need to PUT the time in
          you need to be interested
    Do you want to work SLOWLY... and spend way too much time doing simple things?

Concerns every year... not putting time in = nj   - even if marks are good.

Important Notice about being "busy"


Today, you will have lots of time to work on things....

There is nothing really "NEW" to do.

Mr. M. could have prepared several NEW topics to keep you "busy" today..
  but feels, your time is better spent on working and polishing things we have already covered.

Mr. M. doesn't mind if you leave early....
   some of your best learning will happen on your own computer at home, as you solve your own problems,
     as you polish your work, as you  work on being creative, as you spend time to "critically think" about things.

Do ask for help if you need help.





Other things you can do...

  1. Get your What I learned Document marked
  2. Get your Sketch book marked, by showing to Mr. M. (this is actually MM 118)
  3. Work on 30 second reel
  4. Work on MM 118 final assignment
  5. Work on MM 126 Tutorial, final assignment
  6. Discuss anything with Mr. M.  (remember, only 29% of students attending college in Ontario, discuss ideas with their teachers.... what a waste of an education - especially in fields like MM)
  7. Work on another subject you are behind it
  8. Sketch in your sketchbook... like your ideas for Reel, etc.
