Covenant of the Goddess will host its annual Festival and Grand Council on August 16-19 in Albuquerque, New Mexico
" MerryMeet is the annual gathering for Covenant of the Goddess (CoG) and includes two days of workshops, rituals, lectures, local vendors and entertainment. Concurrently, during MerryMeet, CoG conducts its annual business meeting known as Grand Council (GC). GC is the forum for its members (covens and solitaries) to engage in a consensus process to discuss issues relevant to the operations of CoG, review national bylaw changes necessary in a changing world, to decide matters which require deliberation by the full membership and elect the national board of officers. Grand Council provides a unique opportunity to observe the process of decision making utilizing the consensus process. CoG has utilized consensus since its inception in 1975, allowing all its members at GC the opportunity to be heard in a non-judgmental, non-authoritarian, non-hierarchal process of decision making." Oberon Osiris, HP of Circle of Wondrous Stories, the Michigan coven in the MRLC donated a fine redesigned Barbie doll with custom accessories including a Rocking Horse as Steed, created by Rachel Watcher, fellow member of Covenant of the Goddess for the Tempest Smith Foundation Raffle at Convocation in Detroit (February 23-26). "Ride the Tempest" got special attention from Annette Crossman, cofounder of the Foundation because the doll's outfit and appearance uncannily resembled Tempest's last outfit from a Christmas shopping trip shortly before her death in 2001, and was also the outfit she was laid to rest in. Though mostly attending to the Tempest Smith Foundation table, Oberon and Banshee had a chance to attend several workshops including ones by Convocation guests of honor (and fellow members of CoG) Amber K and Azrael Arynn K, and Selena Fox of Circle. Oberon introduced two of his coven members, Merlin Ravensong and Kris Valkyrie, the MRLC's new PIO to Amber and Az at their table in the Merchants' room. Saturday night all 4 attending members of Circle of Wondrous Stories attended Amber and Azrael's "Ascending by Torchlight" ritual. |
