Why Join the Midwest Regional Local Council?

Membership into the Midwest Regional Local Council,
Covenant of the Goddess



Membership in the Midwest Regional Local Council, Covenant of the Goddess, is simply a matter of taking the right steps and following the procedures listed below.

Solitaries

A solitary practitioner of our religion must meet the following criteria, which must be addressed in each applicant’s Statement of Practice.  One must subscribe to a code of ethics, which is compatible to those in our bylaws.  One must generally focus her/his liturgy, theology around the worship of the Goddess, or the Goddess and the Old Gods.  One must pledge to abide by all the provisions of the Charter, Bylaws and Policy decisions of the Council; and agree to hold harmless any committee of the Covenant and all committee members acting in their official capacities.  One must proclaim that they are a Witch or Wiccan.

A solitary applicant needs two Letters of Recommendation, one of which must come from a member of the Midwest Regional Local Council; the other may come from another CoG member or someone known to CoG.  Being recognized as a member of Our Religion.

A solitary applicant must be eligible to receive Priest/ess Credentials according to the provisions of our bylaws, or be admitted by the judgment of the Local Council acting as a body according to these bylaws.

A solitary applicant will need to attend at least three Local Council meetings before applying.

Once all of these requirements are met, complete the Membership application and present the packet along with the appropriate tithe to the Local Council Membership Officer.


Covens

A coven of practitioners of Our Religion must meet the following criteria, which must be addressed in each applicant’s Statement of Practice.  The coven must be a cohesive, self-perpetuating group fully able to practice and preserve its Tradition of Our Religion.  The coven must subscribe to a code of ethics, which is compatible to those in our bylaws.  The coven must generally focus its liturgy, theology around the worship of the Goddess or the Goddess and the Old Gods.  The coven must have been meeting monthly or more often for at least six months in order to conduct worship services.  The coven must have three or more members who have been Formally Accepted into Training for the Clergy.  The coven must pledge to abide by all the provisions of the Charter, Bylaws and Policy decisions of the Council; and agree that the coven and all its members will hold harmless any committee of the Covenant and all committee members acting in their official capacities.  The coven must proclaim that they are Witches or Wiccans.
