Theology I Introduction to Catholic Faith / The Old Testament

Course Objectives:  The first weeks of this year will be spent in looking closely at the essentials of the Catholic faith, to introduce students new to Catholic education to the beliefs and practices of our tradition and to deepen the existing knowledge of students who have been in Catholic education already.  The rest of the year will be an exploration of the central texts of the Old Testament, with an emphasis on how the Old Testament is foundational to understanding our Christian faith and practices today.

 

Needed Daily: 

Notebook

New American Bible

Text: Written On Our Hearts   ( This is the Old Testament text and will not be needed until the end of the Introduction to Catholicism portion of the course)

*** Not having any of these on a regular basis will lower your In Class Work grade.

 

Grading and Academic Policy: 

Tests:                30%

Quizzes:             30%

Homework:       30%

In Class Work: 10%

 

Late Assignments ( for non-absentees):  One day late drops the assignment one letter grade; two or more days equals a zero.

 

Make up work if absent:  see you handbook

Format for all work:  All work must have your full name, date, period and what the assignment is in the upper left corner.  Five point deduction if this is not complete.

 

Extra Help:  I can be found every day after school until 2:20 in room 210, stop by if you have any questions or concerns about the course at all.
