**Now that the wave of illness has passed, should I continue to put work up like this or go back to the calendar system? If you have an opinion please let me know.
African Elephants
As the students begin their unit on Africa in Social Studies, we begin a week long math/science unit on elephants. Most of the activities, but not all, will be completed in class.
PSW - Problem Solving Workbook
HPW - Homework and Practice Workbook
are different books. Read carefully. Pre-Algebra
In class, we are learning to evaluate expressions. Our next step will be solving one-step addition and subtractions equations before moving into multiplication and division.
Patterns and Variables
During this unit we will be focusing on creating analyzing and determining rules for extending symbolic, arithmetic, and geometric patterns. We will also learn to work with variables and solve equations that contain variables. Many of our goals can be found in the Patterns, Relations, and Algebra section of the state frameworks, as well as, Number Sense and Operations.
If you Subscribe to the calendar feed, it should e-mail you everytime I update it.
The grading policy and the syllabus for the 2009-2010 school year will come home on Thursday.

11/2
Class-We practiced completing all of the steps to a one step equation. HPW p.12-13 were homework and we reviewed them for the correct steps. The steps are to show the inverse operation on both sides, show the identity property, show the result. For example,
All steps must be shown.
Homework-Use PSW p.12 was reading a graph and creating addition equations, not subtraction equations.
11/3
Class-Reviewed the correct steps again and briefly went over the inverse operations of multiply and divide. We will spend more time on these Friday. Corrected homework. Quiz 4 was returned.
Homework-Correct and have signed quiz 4.
11/4
Class-We started to explore one line drawings focusing on Euler paths and circuits.
Many websites are dedicated to this if you want to read further. There were two handouts in class, one was 16 graphs, the other was a chart. They completed the chart in class or at home and will look for patterns to decide if a graph is possible. That means that it can be done with one line.
Homework-Finish chart from class.
