Fun Facts

Each week students will have the opportunity to submit fun facts for this page. The facts must include a viable reference.
 
Fun facts for the week of July 28, 2008:

  •  Often rocks are found in crocodiles' stomachs.  It is believed these rocks help them digest their food.
  • Crocodiles are good parents.  
  • Young crocs stay with their moms for about two years.
  • Mother crocs pick up their babies with their teeth and hold them in a sac in their lower jaw.
  • Crocodiles in the wild usually live about 45 years.
  • Nile crocodiles live on the continent of Africa (which we think is in the southern hemisphere).

  •  A kangaroo can jump as long as 30 feet in 1 single leap.
  • A sailfish can swim as fast as a car on the highway.
  • A rhinoceros beetle can lift 30 times the size of itself.
  • A booby bird can dive 50 feet above the air into the water to catch fish.
