acquire= to get Did you acquire a new handbag, or is that one you borrowed from a fussy old lady named Gladys Friday?
adhere = to stick to Please adhere to the recipe when baking brownies; no cowboy baking, please.
amiable = likable The friendly uncle was amiable and funny; the unfriendly one had loads of money and a very shiny car.
askew= crooked The clown's wig looked askew, and his makeup was runny.
cache = to hide I will cache my halloween candy in a secret spot.
cache = a hiding spot There is a big cache of knives in the burglar's hide-away.
chronicle = to tell a story The clown chronicled his childhood growing up with freak show parents and a chimp he considered more brother than pet.
chronicle = a story told in time order He told me a chronicle that brought tears to my eyes, but after a while I felt exhausted and wanted him to stop.
currency = money, or something you trade Although I rarely carry currency, I was able to pay for the dinner with my credit card. |
