The school emphasizes the role of parents and families as the principal educators of our students. The role of the school is to accompany and provide resources to parents in the academic and personal formation of their children. Social justice themes and family values are practiced and reinforced in an educational environment thanks to the close collaboration with families and the local community.
Colegio Miguel Pro opened in 1992 under the leadership of Father Fred Green S.J., a Jesuit with over 35 years of educational experience in Peru and specifically in the city of Tacna. Under his direction and supervision, the school has grown from its humble beginnings with 3 classrooms to a school that educates over 460 students ranging from preschool to high school levels.
The school is supported by both the Peruvian Ministry of Education and private donations. The state's academic curriculum is interwoven with the Jesuit model of education; to guide teachers and students on how best to use their gifts and knowledge within the school and, more importantly, in their families and society at large. In a country where corruption and poverty abound, Colegio Miguel Pro strives to form young men and women who are willing and able to look beyond themselves and to fight for the well being of others. |
