Hare Krishna! Today I have uploaded a new single file for part two of the Morning program - the earlier version had an error - the Brahma Samhita was placed before the Mangalacarana.. Now it has been rectified.
So the program begins with Govindam, when the deities give us Their first morning Darshan, having just been bathed, dressed, decorated and fed! (The particular version of Govindam here is wonderful because towards the end, Srila Prabhupada himself sings along in a most wonderful way, then in his usual humble way, ends with, 'Thank you very much.'
Next we recite, no, sing, the entire Gaudiya Sampradaya Mangalacarana.
Then we sing the entire Brahma Samhita at a fairly slow pace - with the accompaniment of tamboura, kartals and mridanga. HG Premadhana prabhu of Baleswar (Balinese Iskcon Youth Band) is on Mrdanga and singing along. Recording was done in 2008 in Sri Vrindavana Dham at Srila Gour Govinda Swami Gurudev Sevaashram, Raman Reti, Vrndavan.
Something special: After 'sriyah kaantaah kaantah parama.....' we recite the translation of 5.56 followed by the Lord's REPLY TO BRAHMA in which he says, 'I shall now reveal the highest truth summarized in 5 slokas (panca sloki).' We recite that in English first, then continue to sing His reply (BS verses 5.58-62) The Lord glorifies the wonderful process of Sadhana Bhakti in these super-excellent verses, which are worth memorizing!
(Srila Prabhupada in his audio CD album 'Brahma Samhita' and also his beloved Guru Maharaj Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Goswami Prabhupada had requested all who heard/read the Brahma Samhita to make it a regular daily function to recite this great work....... The Brahma Samhita was 'found' in a wooden box inside the mula-sthanam (sanctum sanctorum) of the Divya Desham temple of Lord Shri Adi Keshava in the Travancore District of Kerala. It was found along with the Sri Krishna Karnamrta. This latter work is a little popular in South India, but the Brahma Samhita is not so well known. I have heard that (I guess by the influence of our devotees there) the world-famous temple of Lord Padmanabhaswamy in Tiruvanantapuram ['Travandram'], the Brahma Samhita is now daily recited.... Well, one fine afternoon in approx. 1991, while i was having a short nap, i had a little dream in which I heard the Brahma Samhita being sung and a voice was saying, one day the whole world will sing this tune... - I woke up very surprised and then quickly made a recording of the tune on my tape recorder for fear of forgetting the wonderful melody........ Anyway, now everyone can hear that simple tune which helps us to fulfil this request of our predecessor Acharyas, i.e. to make it a regular daily function.... Usually when it is chanted by those of us who are fortunate enough to know it by heart, we tend to go so fast, because we are doing it from memory - and that fast speed is almost impossible to keep up with for one to whom the text is new. Therefore when, instead of chanting it we SING it bhajan style, it becomes possible to slow down the speed so much so that even beginners won't have a problem to hear and read along. At the same time, the melody will fill the time and thus even those who can chant it very fast won't feel as it it's a drag to go at such a slow speed.... So we hope all devotees will enjoy singing along with the wonderful Brahma Samhita in this way. And one more little note - HDG Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasavati Goswami Prabhupada had mentioned in his famous commentary on the Brahma Samhita, that it comprises a perfect summary of every single point revealed in the entire Srimad Bhagavatam!!! So reciting it daily and memorizing it are powerful tools for all the preachers of Srila Prabhupada's message!! Hari Hari bol!!)
Then kirtan continues with Yashomati nandana, and Prema-dhvani called out by Srila Prabhupada.
Next comes Guru Puja, where the song Sri Guru Vandana is sung to worship Srila Prabhupada daily in all ISKCON temples. This site is still under construction - it will be uploaded as soon as we can get a good recording of it!
Hare Krishna!
happy singing and happy daily worship! sadhana bhakti ki... jaya! srila prabhupada ki... jaya!
your humble servant
