He made his mark on Canadian tech reporting as Editor-in-Chief of HUB:Digital Living (since redubbed HUB: The Computer Paper). In this role, he resurrected the tabloid format magazine and, along with the Piccolo Publishing team, launched hub:ce (since hub: consumer electronics & more), a new take on tech and on street-level publishing. Andrew is also the Editor-in-Chief of Mobile magazine, Bell Mobility's direct-to-clients custom publication. In this role, he breaks down the barriers to entry with new technology, bringing editorial content to satisfy a wide range of readers of different levels of techspertise, from neophyte to technophile and all steps in between. Andrew recently returned from a year long trip to Malaysia where he served as Consulting Editor for Vision KL magazine alongside Senior Consulting Editor Sam Coleman. While in Malaysia, he lent his voice to the tech world in South-East Asia as a contributor to Chip Malaysia and other leading technology magazines. He has also worked on television projects as stand-up reporter for clients such as Commonwealth Broadcasting Association, doing a six minute news package on the state of Internet access in rural Malaysia. Dubbed "Bridging the Digital Divide," the news piece ran every hour for the duration of a three-day conference of commonwealth diplomats in Kuala Lumpur. While serving in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's metropolitan centre, his story on the state of broadband Internet access in Malaysia caught the attention of readers as well as the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission, service providers and industry pundits. He also created interesting and well received stories that involved SCUBA diving with reef sharks at Aquaria KLCC, tracking the path of the migratory raptors at Raptor Watch as well as an in-depth feature on the state of Islamic banking in Malaysia. Not one to buy in to the hype, Andrew takes a considered and even-handed approach to journalism. He prides himself on cutting through the layers to find and explain the story within. |
