Joan Galat provided excellent presentations for Glenbow Museum’s Terrific Tuesday Talks. This series of thought-provoking talks about the arts, environment, local history and Glenbow Museum’s collection is targeted to senior adult audiences.
Joan is a very engaging speaker who maintained the rapt attention of her audience throughout her presentations. She engaged the audience in lively discussions following her presentations and put them at ease to ask questions as they mingled over coffee. Joan is a talented presenter who will be invited back to Glenbow time and again.

Joan Marie Galat knows how to engage her audience and works hard to deliver entertainment as well as informative and educational material on the writing process and depending on which book she’s speaking, astronomy.
She delivers her “talk” (for children, it’s more like a performance) with enthusiasm and energy. Her enjoyment of the audience is obvious and in return, the response is excellent.

We could immediately put into practice what we learned! We were a fair size group, with a diversity of backgrounds and requirements, attending a workshop presented by Joan Marie Galat.
She was exactly the right person to speak to our group. Joan took a concept and applied her knowledge and skills appropriately to "our project" and backed it up with a workable template that was actively discussed, involving all participants.
All in attendance left with a workable format in hand allowing them to work independently or in a group experience—to immediately implement the skills acquired.

"Your contributions as a presenter made it a positive educational experience for the many attendees who put great efforts and resources into attending. Thank-you!

Joan is an quintessential speaker for a post-secondary audience. She has a natural eloquence, a gift with relevant anecdotes, and an impressive store of experience and knowledge to share.
My class of second year professional writing students were intensely engaged from the start to the finish of her 45-minute talk; their only complaint was that the class ended too soon! They wanted to ask more questions.
The students - many of whom are uncertain about the directions they'll take in their own writing careers - were especially impressed with Joan's sheer breadth of writing endeavors and her willingness to follow many different threads of opportunity; she rolls through disappointments and makes the most of successes. Joan opened their eyes to possibilities that had never occurred to them before, and showed the rewards that come from a consistently positive attitude and steady perseverance.
She really made a difference for my students and I hope to have her as a regular guest speaker in the Professional Writing program in the future.

On behalf of the Soroptimist Club of Edmonton, I would be happy to recommend Joan Marie Galat for a presentation on astronomy and the history of star gazing and the myths behind the constellations.
Our club had Joan Marie give a presentation at one of our club events celebrating the path of Mars coming very close to Earth. Our "Mars Party" was a great success thanks to Joan Marie.
Her presentation was excellent and informative and kept participants of all ages entertained while we waited for the summer sun to set — to try our new skills at identifying the constellations. We congratulate Joan Marie also for her excellent series of Dot to Dot Books.

I had the opportunity to hear Joan Marie Galat speak when she was hired recently by an organization with which I'm affiliated. She delivered an entertaining, educational, and enjoyable presentation for all ages. Joan's original and imaginative ideas punctuated her well-prepared speech, and kept myself and the rest of the audience attentive throughout the time that had been allotted to her.
As a story teller, she was relaxed and easy to hear, with a healthy dose of humor mixed into her well-researched talk. At the same time, we all came away with many new astronomical facts, interesting trivia, and a fresh new understanding of our universe.
I sincerely recommend Joan as a guest speaker, as I have known her to clearly display much confidence, preparation, and experience in the field. Her down-to-earth demeanor is also a definite plus, as people immediately like her!
