Country cookin'...the ultimate comfort food!

I love to cook, and my friends love to eat.  That's a win-win situation for most parties involved!

I was born and raised on a farm in rural North Carolina.  My mom taught me (and my sister) from an early age a lot about cooking.  We experienced planting, picking, shucking, hulling and shelling.  And we experienced the wonderful tastes that were created through all the labor.  I liked to watch my grandmothers, too, and try and figure out how they cooked such good foods.  Overall I think I turned out to be a pretty good southern cook.

This site is a work in progress for me.  After many friends have asked for recipes for many of the things I cook I decided to finally put them in writing.  Among these recipes will be some I have collected from various people along life's journey.  (I will be sure to note the authors and contributors along the way).

I don't do real well with measurements and exact numbers.  I usually cook without any measuring tools and guage the success of a dish by tasting it myself or seeing if there are leftovers at the end of a meal.  Enjoy your cooking, don't stress out with exact numbers, and be flexible!  Make these recipes your own by daring to make adjustments and changes along the way.

And above all... enjoy the comfort of food, friends, and family!
