Welcome to Mrs. Yorde & Ms. Wharton's Classroom Homepage  Upcoming Units September 25, 2008 Dear Parents, Hi! My name is Kristina Wharton and I am writing to formally introduce myself to you and your child. Many of you have probably seen or talked to me briefly during the first few weeks of school in Mrs. Yorde's classroom. I am an intern from Seattle University and I am very excited to be at Montlake Elementary for my student teaching experience. I have heard wonderful things about your school and I am looking forward to working with and learning from Mrs. Yorde and the students of P4. I will be in the classroom once a week on Thursdays from now until December to start building a relationship with the kids and familiarizing myself with the routine. In January, I will begin my full-time student teaching experience and will progressively take on more responsibilities. Just to give you a little information on my background and credentials, I graduated from Western Washington University in 2006 with a B.A. in Psychology. I volunteered and worked with kids throughout my undergraduate years and after graduating, I did AmeriCorps for a year with the Washington Reading Corps at an elementary school in Mount Vernon, WA. This was a great experience and helped solidify my teaching ambitions. After my year of service, I subbed as a Para-educator for the Bellevue School District and tutored with the Youth Tutoring Program here in Seattle. I will be graduating from Seattle University this spring with my Masters in Teaching. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child more throughout the school year.
