There are three editions of MonoScan - X86 / Windows, ARMv4 / Windows CE and ARMv4 / Windows Mobile.
The X86 / Windows edition is for laptops and desktop PCs. The ARMv4 / Windows CE edition is for automotive
navigators and CD/DVD players. The ARMv4 / Windows Mobile edition is for smartphones and pocket PCs.
MonoScan supports two diagnostic protocols of Volkswagen Group - KW2000 and KW1281.
KW2000 is the second diagnostic protocol used by Volkswagen Group. KW2000 was introduced in about 2000 and
is more modern and efficient than KW1281. It provides new features for the existing diagnostic functions and a few
new diagnostic functions.
KW1281 is the first diagnostic protocol used by Volkswagen Group. KW1281 was introduced in about 1990 and was
used widely for more than 10 years, even after the introduction of KW2000. KW1281 provides more than 10
diagnostic functions.

MonoScan for Windows supports Windows 7, Vista, XP. MonoScan for Windows CE supports Windows CE 6, 5.

environment for Windows CE and Windows Mobile used by many modern applications.

Processor Architectures
MonoScan supports two processor architectures - Intel X86 and ARM ARMv4.
X86 is a CISC 16-32-64-bit processor architecture widely used in laptops and desktop PCs.
ARMv4 is a RISC 32-bit processor architecture widely used in smartphones, pocket PCs and other portable devices.
Diagnostic Adapters
MonoScan supports two kinds of diagnostic adapters - USB-KL and RS232-KL.
USB-KL is the generic low-cost diagnostic adapter used to connect a device with a USB host communication port
to a vehicle with the KL diagnostic bus.
RS232-KL is the generic low-cost diagnostic adapter used to connect a device with a RS232 communication port
to a vehicle with the KL diagnostic bus.
