I am from a generation, that communication was either by telephone , regular mail or personnal.
The changes through the years are incredible. Now all you have to do is turn a computer and with the help of the internet, either by e-mail, chat rooms or actually being able to use the computer to talk to anybody in the 7 continents by just going through Skype and dialing the telephone for a very small fee, or talking directly if the other person is connected to the software.
Today, in the Global Market, lots of Companies are directing meetings using Skype or connecting to the satelite. Before, meetings had to be held in the countries of origin, thus putting pressure on budgets.
Also we have e-mails, which also makes communication much more efficient in the businness world.
If implementations are needed they will be done fast.
in the personnal area it is also very usefull and practical. You can with one stroke of the hand, send request or information to a group of people.
The draw back in the personnal area is the fact that you kind of isolate yourself sometimes. There is not as much the person to person relationship. Also you are open in space for strangers to maybe access your information.
We are living in a globalized world. Thanks to international TV and the Internet, we know a lot about what’s going on in other parts of the world.
By doing intercultural communication, we are bridging cultural and language barriers so that we can understand each other and live closer together as members of the human family.
Another popular form of communication on the Internet are newsgroups. These groups work by posting a question or topic on what amounts to an online bulletin board. People then respond by posting replies the question or topic. Newsgroups in many instances have a moderator that checks these responses then posts the message. (Google)
Also in my time, to graduate we had to fisically be in school. today there is on line Schooling. The draw back is that going trough on line students will miss their appreciation for and understanding of the rich complexity of the human experience through the study of differences in ethnic and cultural perspectives, class, race, gender, sexual orientation, and ability
Everyone learns at different paces and in different ways. High school education only glazes over a few topics, as if every students will be able to immerse them self and focus in a way that allows them to retain the knowledge they are beings taught. |
