I am Mohidus Samad Khan, a Chemical/Biochemical Engineer and Researcher, working as a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemistry, McGill University, Montreal, Canada. I am working on 'Bioactive Papers' with Prof. T.G.M. van de Ven. This project deals with Bio-surface Engineering, which comprises the knowledge of surface chemistry, surface engineering, bio-chemistry and bio-chemical engineering. It has potential applications in health and environmental sectors. In collaboration with Prof. M.A. Whitehead I will also work on molecular simulation of antigen receptors and antibody using semi-empirical (PM3), ab initio and density function theory. This computational calculation will help to understand the morphology of antigen-antibody interaction on paper. I completed my PhD from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Monash University, under the supervision of Prof. Gil Garnier and Dr. Wei Shen. The PhD project was: 'Bioactive Papers: Printing, Activity and Stability'. Before enrolled in Monash University, I was working on Pollution Abatement under an international research project. We worked with the industries (mostly composite textile dyeing), government bodies and local committees to identify the pollution sources adjacent to the Turaag river and the nearby water bodies . We also worked to identify the pollution impact on the environment and reduce pollution from the source. I also worked as a freelancer Environmental Consultant to develop the Waste(water) Management Plan and to design Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) for a renowned Pharmaceutical industry in Bangladesh. My research interest is also extended to Engineering Education. Beside my research career, I work as the Editor of ChE Thoughts, the first ever Chemical Engineering and Science Magazine in Bangladesh. I am also the the moderator of ChemicalBUET, an organization dedicated to the students, academics and alumni of the Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET.
