2004-2006

· Environmental Consultant, Renata Ltd., BD. (2006)
Worked as a freelancer Environmental Consultant for Renata Ltd., BD, a prominent Bangladeshi Pharmaceutical Industry. As the Environmental Consultant I designed the ‘Effluent Treatment Plant, ETP’ and developed ‘Waste Management Plan’ for Renata Ltd. Working on that field was really a wonderful experience.

 · Project Engineer, ETP, ISM Project (2004-2006)

It was an international research project working on the pollution abatement. 'ISM' stands for 'Investment Support to MACH'. This project was the pollution abatement wing of MACH project, which has been selected by the Energy Globe as the national winner for Bangladesh in 2009. At its different stages, the project was been funded by DFID, USAID, Department of Environment (DoE), Gov. of Bangladesh; and under taken by Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS), Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and University of Leeds, UK. Through the project I got the opportunity to learn the academic as well as the industrial aspects of pollution management. To identify and reduce the pollution we worked inside the industries so as in the labs. We worked with the industry management, government policy makers and the local representatives to build-up awareness against the pollution and its long-term and short-term impacts.

The job responsibilities are given below:
  •  Investigate water pollution problems in the Turaag river and the surrounding wetlands,
  • Investigate the current practices of effluent treatment in the (composite) textile dyeing industries situated on the bank of the Turaag river,
  • Help the industries to select the appropriate Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) by giving them advice on the treatment process and ETP design/requirement,
  • Help the existing ETPs to optimize their chemical dozing, minimize operating cost and maximize the treatment performance,
  • Provide training/advice to the ETP operators,
  • Perform Environmental Audit to the interested industries.
