About mobileDot

Starting on August 18th, 2008 and concluding at the end of the Fall 2008 semester, I will be on a sabbatical from the Maricopa Community College District working to research opportunities for mobile network connected devices to be used for student learning.

Sabbatical Abstract

It is estimated that over 90% of community college students posses at least one mobile device.  Since many of these devices contain computer and wireless network support, it seems very likely that these devices can assist faculty and students in teaching and learning by providing additional options. This purpose of this sabbatical is to do proof of concept tests on existing client / server system designs migrated to a mobile framework.  In addition, an investigation will be done to determine where this technology has been successful in Higher Ed. and finally, the trends for mobile technology as it would pertain to a typical community college student.
