Bruce Johnson - Cayman: Our team is made up of the same scurvy crew as
last year. Jane Moon - Cayman LadiesWe have at the helm our illustrious skipper who has studied extensively at the elbow of the skipper of the SS Minnow. Specializing in 3 hour cruises! Learning how to get enough logs to hang together and float the whole crew and still be competitive, luckily the competition hasn't figured out how to hollow out the logs yet! Speaking of crew we have the middle man who escaped from a small island in the north atlantic by lashing together four telephone poles and hanging up a Heineken banner and beating to windward for 2000 miles to get to another even smaller island only a few miles away. Then we have our imported expert from the west coast of a land far far away who specializes in the rare form of body art that can only be studied in foreign lands on small bunches of lashed logs. He also comes from a land of very big big logs from which cruise ships are made of which is probally why his form of art is so rare back there! That leaves us with the remaining crew our very own siren who leadeth us into temptation and then has to put up with all of us, good thing she is hard of hearing even though she complains of the skipper being not loud enough, but I keep telling her she should have known something was going to happen as we were heading straight for that big green metal floatey thing! Not sure if our spare log barer will be coming along to fill out your missing crew spots but will let you know when I know which is probably about the time you are buying us all a drink! Still got a boat for us? The Cayman Islands
ladies crew who will be competing for the first time at Jammin' are Jane Moon -
helm, Tomeaka McTaggart - tactician and spinnaker, Jennifer
Ahearn - jib, Lindsey Macfee - bow. Jane and Lindsey
have sailed together successfully for many years, both locally in the Cayman
J22 fleet and representing the Cayman Islands at a number of J22 World
Championships, ISAF events, Rolex Women's Keelboat Championship (with Jennifer
and Tomeaka) and
women's match racing regattas. Jennifer is normally to be found on the bow of her husband Donald's J22 in Cayman but is more than happy to sail with the girls as there is "less shouting" and she can use her talents for jib trim and downwind wind spotting. Tomeaka is an excellent dinghy sailor who represented the Cayman Islands at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Regatta and is equally expert in keelboats, particularly on tactics. The team are looking forward to being in Montego Bay and hope that whatever they lack on the race course, they will make up for at the social events. Team Italy, the dark horse of the regatta, comes with a skipper who has done more sailing in more places in more classes than can easily be described here. His team is a late addition; we shall discover more over the weekend. PJ Gibson - Kingston, Jamaica On "TSUNAMI" we have PJ Gibson (Seasoned), Malcolm Hernould (Seasoned but new to J22's) and Ian Gibson (Seasoned) and possible Rupert Bent .... We sailed in the August regatta in Kingston but prior to that we have not raced in over 10 years. Stephen Cooke - Kingston, Jamaica

The owner and skipper is Peter Harper whose idea of real fun is his trimaran 'Skedaddle' on which he likes to try and point higher and faster than a J22 (not yet achieved) or look for more reef. In the middle is the gorgeous Evelyn Harringston who has been sailing on Zipper for longer than she can remember. Jeff Brame on the bow is always game for a laugh if people arn't already laughing at him.... Richard Hamilton - Montego Bay, Jamaica Renegade: - Richard Hamilton (helm) learnt to sail on a 470 in Kingston harbour by lots of trial and even more error. Juan Lago (Argentina) brings a lifetime of experience to the boat, growing up in Optimists, dinghies of every size and lots of offshore sailing. Harry Harper, former J22 owner, is (another) Kingston refugee looking for a relaxing weekend on the water. Jackie Hamilton provides the solid crew background that any husband would want while causing distraction on competing boats |
