Jamin' 2010 Boat Draw

5 December 2010.  Gene Drummond, the epitomy of fairness and impartiality since her involvement with the Montego Bay Yacht Club in 1937, graciously carried out the boat draw for the visitors this coming weekend.  And what a draw, with the Caymanians once again drawing J/22 'Defender' the most recently refurbished boat in the fleets.

The results

'Calypso'        Cayman       Bruce Johnson
'Awesome'      Bahamas     Jimmie Lowe
'Defender'       Cayman       Matt Diaz

Big thanks to Gene, we will see you during the celebrations.

Jamin' 2010 Race is On!

Excitement mounts in Jamaica as this year's event nears.  The die is cast for the Montego Bay Challengers after a gruelling high wind two weekend series put Peter Harper at the head of the qualifying series.  The crews are shaping up and losing those beer guts, worried that their team might be protested out even before the start of the first race, skippers are even pulling out the 'new' rules from 2009 to see what the fuss is all about.  The committee boat skipper has already put in his request for 'more ladies and beer on the race committee boat please'.  The Kingston teams are getting ready for the long drive over, it is all shaping up to be an unusually fun filled event.

MBYC will be represented by Peter Harper (Zipper), Richard Hamilton (Renegade) and Bob Mallash (Ayasoh).  Race Officer Frank May.  Everyone looks forward to welcoming the Cayman teams and newbie Bahamians

Jamin’ 2009 Visiting Boat Draw

MBYC 22 November, 2009

Thanks to Jane Harper for invigilating the process of the boat draw ensuring that it was fair, honest and equitable.

Bruce Johnson (CAY) has announced his intention to sail his J22 from Cayman and participate with it in the Jamin’ regatta, weather permitting.  Presuming that he is unsuccessful, a boat was drawn for him.

In the event that Bruce does make the trip successfully, his boat will be made available to the first team to express interest and register.

Thanks to Peter Harper for this article from the J22 yearbook 1990 about the inaugural JamAm regatta the year before that was the precursor of today's regatta.
