MNSORP Mission
The mission of MNSORP is to prevent sexual abuse and increase public safety by reducing barriers to sex offender re-entry and stability. It is not in the best interest of our community to make it difficult for convicted sex offenders to maintain stability once they re-enter society. However, the current system often does just that, making it hard for them to find jobs, secure housing, enter chemical dependency treatment programs, and access other community resources. These barriers can lead to parole violations and increase the risk of recidivism. Contrary to public perception, most convicted sex offenders will not repeat their crimes (See Myths and Facts). However, the harder our community makes it for them to find stability and support, the more likely it is that they will re-offend.
Using evidence-based strategies, best practices, and educational outreach, MNSORP helps break down barriers that sex offenders face to successful reentry and long-term stability. The result is a stronger and safer community for all.
