Department of Environmental Studies, University of California at Santa Cruz An exploratory spatial data analysis of California condor daily activities and species home range in central and southern California
Geographic Information Systems were utilized to analyze over two years of GPS data from units worn by thirteen California condors. This data was then grouped into four activity categories: “feeding and socializing”, “in flight”, “roosting” and “other” to examine if age or sex affected daily activities. This data was also used in a kernel density analysis resulting in a preliminary home range of the three condor populations in California.
