Introductory Tarot Class

Please bring a notebook, a comfy pen, and any 78 card Tarot deck.  If you do not yet have a Tarot deck, do not worry.  I will have plenty of decks for new students.  Click here for some helpful information on selecting your first Tarot deck. 
 
Week 1
    Introductions
    Why Tarot?
    Ethics, Ethics, Ethics 
    The Importance of a Tarot Journal
    Deck Composition
    Elements – Basic Correspondences
    Numbers 1 through 10 – Basic Correspondences
    One Card Impressions
    Homework:  
  • Select your favorite Minor Arcana card (includes Pips and Court Cards). Write anything you want about the card. Some ideas: pretend you are one of the characters or “step into” the card and interact with the characters and the things shown on the card and write about your experience; write a poem or a song; draw a picture; write about a time in your life that reminds you of this card; write why you like this card best!
  • Select your least favorite Minor Arcana card and write anything you want about it.
  • Pull a card at random any morning this week (from entire deck). Note it in your Journal. At the end of the day, take time to note anything significant that happened during the day.
Week 2
    Keywords/Key Phrases
    Minor Arcana (Pips and Court Cards)
    Preparing for a Reading
    One and Two Card Readings
    Homework: 
  • Develop keywords/key phrases for the Pips.
Week 3
    Major Arcana (0-11)
    Three Card Readings
    Homework: 
  • Develop keywords/key phrases for the Court Cards and the first half of the Major Arcana.
  • Do a three card reading for yourself. Write about it in your Journal.
Week 4
    Major Arcana (12-21)
    Reading Reversals
    More Three Card Readings
    Homework: 
  • Develop keywords/key phrases for the last half of the Major Arcana.
  • Write about your personal code of ethics.
  • Bring in a favorite picture/photo for next week’s class.
Week 5
    Putting It All Together
    Personal Code of Ethics
    Create Your Own Spread
 
Week 6
    Reading Workshop
 
 
During this six week course, each student will have the opportunity to
  • Begin a Tarot journal
  • Develop a keyword (or key phrase) for each card
  • Interpret single cards
  • Interpret 2 and 3 card combinations
  • Develop a personal code of ethics
