I'm really excited about the Blue Ridge Relay! It has already provided an opportunity to run with & meet new friends, and it has really focused my training: Nothing motivates like fear! I'm really hoping that I don't embarrass you guys!
How did I get here? I read the following article in Runner's World: "The Life List: Things You Must Experience to Fully Appreciate Running: Run a Team Relay"
http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,ss6-239-281--11073-4-1X2X3-4,00.htmlDwayne Hellard says: "Sounds like fun. Why don't we do it?"
The rest, as they say, is history: next thing you know I'm on a team of 11 fast runners and 12 weeks away from a 208 Mile Team Relay.
I've had the pleasure of knowing quite a few of the team members: I've been friends with Dwayne longer than I'd care to admit; I work with Gray and Randall at EMC, and I've worked with Lee Whitaker at a prior company. Tom Aud is my friend/neighbor, and I've had the opportunity to meet Wendy and Kristi through running. All great people, and I can't wait to meet the rest of the team!
I have a 7 year old girl and a 10 year old son. I'm happily married to Mary, who makes sure all the kid's teeth get "Brushy Brushied" every night, and keeps me in line as well. I'm a native of North Carolinian and a long suffering NC State Wolfpack fan.
