About MMSYO

The Mercer/Macon Symphony Youth Orchestra (MMSYO) is an outstanding musical organization that provides extensive rehearsal and performance opportunities to young musicians in the Middle Georgia area. In its fifth year, the MMSYO is comprised of more than eighty students, ages eight to eighteen, representing nearly twenty-five schools and homeschoolers in Middle Georgia and the surrounding areas.

The MMSYO offers several ensembles: the Full Orchestra (our top ensemble for winds, strings, and percussion), String Orchestra (for our developing players to prepare them for future membership in the full orchestra), and Chamber Ensembles (string quartet, brass quintet, woodwind quintet, percussion ensemble, and flute choir). Students may participate in multiple ensembles.
