Marketa works with 3 to 8-year-old kids through drama and puppet theatre. She also loves to make puppets of various kinds out of different materials, a skill which she is delighted to share with children and enthusiastic adults. She comes from The Czech Republic – a place renowned for its distinctive puppetry.

Marketa's travelling puppet theatre specializes in puppet shows for kids between the ages 2 to 3 and 4 to 8. The aim of her shows is to entertain, educate and bring out the inner sparkle of creativity in kids.

Her repertoire includes well-known fairy tales, tales from all over the world and also modern stories including The Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, Hansel and Gretel, The Magic Pot or The Three Billy Goats Gruff. She uses a wide variety of puppets from hand-puppets to marionettes made of either wood, paper-mache or fabric.

Marketa's shows are enriched by the heritage of a unique ancient art of Eastern European puppetry. They are perfect for preschools, primary schools as well as birthday parties and other private events.

M&M’s TRAVELLING PUPPETS is a puppet theatre for children. Its origins date back to the year 2000 when it was first established in Hanoi, Vietnam by Markéta Steinerová and her friend, Marie Barin, both pre-school teachers at an international kindergarten THE SYSTEMS’ LITTLE HOUSE. All the puppets as well as all the props were hand-made from recycled materials by Markéta and Marie.

After a little break and a move from the Asian continent to Europe Markéta started to perform again, this time in Edinburgh, Scotland: Markéta Pauzerová joined Markéta Steinerová and the M&M’s TRAVELLING PUPPETS duo came to life in January 2008 /more on: www.travellingpuppets.blogspot.com/performing regularly in THE MEADOWS NURSERY, Marchmont, at children birthday parties and in the M&M's TRAVELLING THEATRE in Marchmont. As in Vietnam, they used recycled materials to make puppets and their shows were often accompanied by live music. Their repertoire includes folk tales from all over the world as well as modern ones. Markéta and Markéta use a wide variety of puppets from hand-puppets to marionettes made of either wood, cardboard, paper-machè or fabric.

Recently, Marketa Steinerova has moved to Chicago, U.S.A. where she continues performing while Marketa Pauzerova keeps on spreading the fame of Czech puppetry in Edinburgh, Scotland. Both of them are looking forward to the summer holidays when they finally meet in Prague, The Czech Republic, so they can perform together again, if only for a little while....

THE THREE BILLY GOATS GRUFF

Nancy Ansorge, preschool teacher at TOTAL CHILD, Evanston

We so enjoyed the show!! The children loved having special 'jobs' in helping to tell the story. You are a wonderful storyteller. It is a great gift to have. The class has made great use of their puppets and even made their own scenery. You are welcome to share your stories with us any time! Many thanks!

THE LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
  • Marta Mari, theatre director, mother of a 4-year old Amelia: The show was really well presented and enjoyable. Simple yet effective. This is a perfect way to get children to love theatre since the story is well known to everybody and on many levels develops children's imagery and creative thinking. The fact that the children are allowed to touch and play with puppets makes the experience extra valuable. Thanks :-)!
