Location and Directions

Dufur is located about 95 miles from Portland up the scenic Columbia River gorge.  Guests who are flying in are encouraged to share their travel information to facilitate airport pick-up and car pooling.

The Google Map with Directions from Portland International Airport to The Dalles can be found here.

From The Dalles take I-97 South about 13 miles to the Dufur exit.  Proceed into town on that exit, the old highway,  which makes two turns and then becomes Main Street.  Nancy's Parents, Steve and Wendy Schaefer, live on the southeast corner of 4th and Main in a cedar shingled house with a porch facing Main Street.  Stop and say hello before proceeding to the park or the hotel.

Dufur Park is further down Main Street.  You'll pass the store and Post Office, then the Museum.  As you see the hotel on the left take Hogan's Alley just before the hotel and follow it to the park.  Jack, Dufur's park maintenance man and city mayor will be around to collect your daily fee for camping.

Directions from Dufur to the ceremony and reception sites will be available at the hotel and campground. Ramsey Grange shows up on the google map of Dufur, but unfortunately Iva Christman's farm does not.

Lodging

Lodging is available in Dufur at the historic Balch Hotel.  The hotel has 19 serene rooms with no in room telephones, or TV's.  Reservations can be made no more than 4 months in advance (mark you calenders for April 23rd) through their website or by phone at 541-467-2277.

There are also campsites available at the Dufur park.  The park has both RV and tent spaces and a swimming pool with showers.   We have reserved the park for the weekend of the wedding.  Tent spaces are 10$ per night and RV spaces are 20$ per night.
