About

Z H Sikder University of Science and Technology (ZHSUST) is dedicated to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21^st century. This university has been established with a mission to make advancement and eradicate poverty of backward southern district of Bangladesh and its aim is not only just limited to educate people but also to create leadership and entrepreneurship, generate ideas and innovation, empower and breed the students with to face all real life challenges. In this respect, ZHSUST patronizes various club activities. Green Club is one of the active clubs of those. This club initiates voluntary activities and any person associated with ZHSUST can be a member of this club at present. Md Monjurul Hasan, Lecturer, Department of Civil Engineering along with other teachers, took the initiative to establish this club in 2012 with permission of the university authority. At present this club owns more than 400 members. The members of this club are named as "Green Member". The green members are are motivated with the slogan " We are green".

Vision

Green Club is basically a youth based nonprofit club and operates with the help of the young volunteers of ZHSUST. It starts with the vision to get members involved in different community services. It reminds about the social commitments and the responsibility of human welfare. It promotes all round development of the students’ [volunteers'] personal abilities and personalities through its services towards community. It has a motto of creating green people - people free from pride and prejudice.

Mission

The mission of the Green Club is to get students involved in the community through service oriented activities. Community service refers to voluntary, unpaid acts of assistance performed by individuals or groups, primarily to benefit others. The goal of Green Club is to inspire our students to be productive lifelong community service leaders by encouraging a commitment to civic participation.

Current Activities

Community Aid

Schooling for under-privileged child.
Winter cloth collection and distribution. [ slogan " Share your winter with the poor"]
Fund raising program for the flood affected people. [ motto "Sharing minimizes the losses"]
Community volunteering at National Vaccination program.

Students Aid

Green Club organizes various on demand workshops on different topics. Experts from different arena participates and share their expertise with the participants on these type of events.

Blood donation campaign

Their prime mission of the section of the club is promoting public awareness regarding safe blood transfusion through collecting and storing blood. Green Club organizes blood grouping campaign and stores blood group list of the volunteers for emergency response when needed.

Legal Aid

Green club provides legal support to under-privileged people of the community through the experts. Currently this section is headed by Md Emran Parvez Khan, Associate Professor, Department of LAW, ZHSUST. Green Club has an expert team of Legal Advisers for legal aid section.
