This term students will be studying about medieval times. They will be learning about what daily life and the social organization was like in medieval European societies from about 500-1500 C.E. They will also research the resources and tools of the times and see how they shaped the era and what aspects of that life influenced lives of Canadian communities of today.
Students will be building a castle in groups and this unit will link with pulleys and gears, in the making of a drawbridge, flag pole or catapult. Students will also be building a castle out of any sort of material: for example candy, recycled materials, etc. The unit will culminate in a trip to Medieval Times to experience the culture of the era.
