As a human-computer interaction (HCI) researcher, I am interested in how technology plays a role during life's "big" events. In my Ph.D. thesis, I explored one of the biggest - how technology is involved during the end of life. As part of my thesis, I evaluated a new website that enables online support groups for the bereaved. I am also interested in methodological issues associated with the design and evaluation of such "thanatosensitive" technologies -- that is, technologies which address mortality, dying and death as part of their design concept.

My other research interests include mobile/ubiquitous computing, human memory and reminiscence, privacy, computer-supported collaborative work (CSCW), and HCI methodologies.
