joining a school/ non school team? we've got some advice!
|
Are you finally ready to join a sports team or extra curricular activity? Here's some tips for starting, being prepared and getting good. Keep reading! Ps. Whenever you sign up for anything, ask a friend to also so that you wouldn't be alone!
Sports: For sports teams, you normally have to sign up, get a phsical, and fill out some forms so do that early to get it ot of the way. Once your name is on the dotted line, you have a commitment. Practice as soon as you can and as often as you can. Once I signed up for soccer, I immediatley stretched and got outside with my friend to practice. We set up a schedule; every day after school we would practice shooting goals, drills, and technique. I'm waiting to hear if I made the team. If you don't, though, don't be discouraged. They'll be other oppurtunites and everything happens for a reason! And remember that you'll never know until you try. Drama/School Play: We know that everyone's there for the lead part but if you don't get the part you want, you're still part of the cast. There's other options like stage manager or working backstage for set design. Once, you get your new material study it! Sing it all the time and get it down pat. But before any of that happens, you have to try out! Practice singing or acting in front of family members or best friends. I try to watch the musical I'm doing or look it up on the internet. When you have to get up on stage in front of strangers, I'm totally nervous but I take a deep breath and imagine myself winging it. If you do mess up, don't be mad at yourself because you never know what can happen. Keep in mind that there's always next year!
