Your Research

So what is Mark Twain all about? Do you already know anything about him?  Follow the steps listed below to complete this section of your webquest.

  • First, fill out the KWL chart for Mark Twain.
    •  Create a KWL chart.
    • At the very bottom of that page, you'll see where you input your information to start your KWL chart.  Fill in the information (Mrs. Seago, Language Arts 1, Mark Twain) and then click on "Generate KWL".
    • Then print out your blank KWL and fill in the "K" and "W" section.  (Remember, the "K" is for what you know, and the "W" is what you want to know.
  • Next, look through the websites below to find the information that you want to know about Twain. As you find information that fits on your KWL, fill in the "L" (what you learned).
  • You can use other sites if you'd like, but make sure they are reliable resources!  Of course, you can also refer to books.
  • As you're researching, keep track of your sources.  You will be required to create a works cited page when you complete your interview.
  • If you're stuck about what you want to learn about Twain, click for some suggestions.

Your Interview with Twain

You are now ready to put all your information from your KWL chart into an interview or skit!

  • You will write two parts for your interview.  One part will be the interviewer and the other part will be Twain answering the interviewers questions.
  • You must cover at least 10 interesting aspects of Twain's life in this interview.
  • Once this interview is written, practice with your partner with the interview.  Your partner will read the interviewer's lines, and you are responsible for Twain's lines.
  • After you two are ready for recording, you must sign up for a time to record your interview on GarageBand. Mrs. Seago will help you when it's time to record.
  • If you have fulfilled all requirements, your podcast will be posted on our team's website.
  • Don't forget to visit our website and check out your classmates' podcasts!
  • If you need an example, Mr. Bransteter's class has done a similar project.  They "interviewed" the people whose biography they read.  Click on one of the students to get an idea of what you're supposed to do with your Twain interview.
