G. commissarisi

The vocal repertoire of this species consists entirely of monosyllabic calls. This description is not complete, however; the vocal components of mother-pup interactions and male courtship have not been documented so far.

            Gc distress calls.wav                                                                       Gc trills.wav

Distress calls are uttered whenever a bat is attacked by conspecifics or restrained by the observer.
Trills are produced during aggressive encounters.

Gc approach pulses.wav                       Gc hook.wav   Gc downward sweep.wav   Gc inverted V.wav

Approach pulses are produced whenever a bat is flying towards an already occupied roost (probably by the occupants and not by the approaching bat).
Various social calls are uttered during tandem-flights and chases. It is unknown, however, whether they are used in an aggressive or affiliative context.

Gc alert call.wav                                 Gc modulated sweep.wav

Alert calls are produced when bats are disturbed or when several individuals are circling around the same location (i.e., roost or nectar source). For one vocalization type, the social context in which it occurs is unknown.
