Another full week of learning has passed and we are fast approaching the end of the school year. The children are continuing their learning as well as reflecting on all they have accomplished over these past months. We need a few additional volunteer trench-fillers! Please call Karen in the office to let her know if you are willing to shovel in some fill dirt to keep our play yard safe. The parking lot has been getting clogged. If you need to come into the building, park in a designated spot. Please remain in your car during carpool time; we will bring your children to you. Thank you to Mrs. Kessluk for organizing the K - 6 tremendous Tae-Kwon-Do experience! Each child really benefited from this activity. If you are interested in having your child continue to develop attention, strength, coordination and self-esteem, contact Chief Master Ranjit with the Raleigh Hills West Coast Taekwondo @ 503-297-23.

As we approach the end of the current school year, we are busy preparing for the 2011-2012 school year!
Part of that preparation is determining scholarship needs. Please find the scholarship application attached. We need it returned by Monday, May 9.
We realize that we are still in discussion about the upper grade program. Please return the paper work even if you are unsure of your child/ren's attendance here next year.
Also attached are the registration papers for next year.

We welcomed your children back to school yesterday and hope you all had a beautiful Pesach that was enriched by all your children learned here at school. As the week is so short, teachers have not written separate newsletters. However, Rabbi Paige is very proud of his students and wants to let you know that they have completed Parshat Chayei Sarah, their second parsha of the year. They held a review bowl as a form of review this Thursday and he was very impressed by how much the students knew and hopes all the parents are also proud. Next they begin their last parsha of the year, Parshat Toldot. A quick note regarding next year, 2011-2012: On February 25, a letter requesting a response regarding your intent to reenroll your children was sent that was to have been returned to the school by March 11. Thank you to those families who did respond; however, we received only a handful of replies. In order for us to make staffing and other decisions, it is vital that we hear from all families by Thursday, May 5th. Please do not hesitate to contact the office with any questions.

I am repeating what all of your children’s teachers have also said in their newsletters, but it’s worth saying again: THANK YOU for your support of our All School Torah Fair! It was so special to have you here at school with your children and families, and as you know, the children were so proud and excited to share their accomplishments with you. Attached to this newsletter please find parent feedback forms. Please complete one for each of your children (they are grade appropriate), and return it to school. Your compliments will become a part of your child’s yearbook. KidsRpriceless.com! Please urge your friends who live in Oregon to go online to purchase raffle tickets. (Out of state purchases technically are not allowed by the state of Oregon.) Thanks for your support! 5th and 6th grade students are now involved in the Family Heirlooms and Artifacts research project with their PJA counterparts. They are going to PJA about once a week this month while 4th graders remain in class with Morah Rivkin. Also this month, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders will be taking their standardized assessments. These will also take place in the morning, which is the optimal time for the students’ brains to be functioning best. All of this means that their Jewish studies time has been decreased. We are all working together to find as much time as possible for these students to continue their Jewish studies curriculum learning. Morah Rivkin has offered additional information in her letter. Please do not hesitate to contact any of us with your questions. Dates to Remember - Sunday, March 6 - 10:00 am - Noon.
