SCREENWRITING ASSIGNMENT: Complete 3 concepts, a treatment, a screenplay, storyboards, and a shooting script for a five to seven minute original short film. See me for rules and details to make sure you meet the requirements. This is a major assignment worth a large number of points. It is due on Tuesday, May 1, and will not be accepted late for any reason.
There was a practice screenwriting and storyboarding assignment due in class on 3/29. See me if you were absent.
Complete a mirror-theory analysis essay comparing and contrasting Detour with Wait Until Dark. It must be in perfect MLA format (including citations) and follow the paper checklist. You should select one of the four pillars, do some research on 1945 and 1967, and explain how that particular pillar is reflected similarly or differently in each film. You must cite the source both parenthetically within the paper and bibliographically on a "works cited" page at the end of the paper. See me if you have questions or need help. This paper is due on April 2nd.

Complete an analysis essay on The Truman Show. The essay must be typed in perfect MLA format and follow the checklist (at left). You should discuss how the film illustrates Cave Theory (using examples from the film), discuss the film's theme (argument) based on phenomenology, and deconstruct one segment. This paper is due on 2/24. See me if you have questions.

Complete an evaluation essay for The Kid. It should be in essay structure with perfect MLA format, and it should follow all of the considerations on the "Paper Checklist" (see column at left). The paper must include all four values and some deconstruction in the artistic value section. It is due on 2/9. See me if you have questions.
A summary of "The Introduction of Sound" from The Oxford HIstory of World Cinema is due on February 7th. The book can be found in the Media Center. The summary should be thorough, handwritten, and focus on the negative elements of the new technology.
